The Dan Youngblood Wrestling Scholarship Fund was created to honor the memory of Dan Youngblood. Dan was a wrestler since the age of six and a coached the sport for the last 25 years. This scholarship fund will help to continue his legacy and assist wrestlers in receiving an education, allowing them to succeed both on and off the mat.
“Probably the worst thing you can do in wrestling is stall. You waste time, you run away from your opponent,” said one of Dan's wrestlers. “During one match, Coach Dan had this kid who was losing and he just kept backing away from his opponent. Coach got up from his chair, shouted the guy's full name and said, ‘Don’t stall!’ Everyone in the gym was quiet. Afterward, he told me, ‘That’s not the way we wrestle. If we are going to lose, fine, but wrestle tough and accept the loss.”
